Pop queen Beyoncé, her husband rapper/mogul Jay-Z and Kanye West’s eagerly anticipated joint project “Watch the Throne” was recently released. Titled “Lift Off”, the lead single from that album has an upbeat sound with synthesizer sounds and has the makings of an anthem. The liner notes revealed that the track features Nigeria’s Don Jazzy – frequent collaborator and close friend of singer D’Banj – as a co-producer.
The usually restrained Guardian UK gave the track a raving review: “As galaxies form overhead, Beyoncé sings “Take you to the moon/ Take you to the stars.” Now that’s selling it. The track is bombastic – the synths recall triumphalist opulence.”
